Join Dr. Joyce Gilbert for training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how they impact youth and families you are working with. After attending this training, you will:
- Know the meaning and importance of trauma informed care and your personal role
- Understand the biochemistry of stress and its impact on the immune and neurologic systems
- Distinguish the difference between stress, toxic stress and trauma
- Be able to identify trauma related behaviors and factors involved in resiliency
- Apply techniques to respond to dysregulation
About the Presenter
Dr. Joyce Gilbert is the Medical Director of the Providence St. Peter Hospital Sexual Assault Clinic and Child Maltreatment Center in Lacey, WA. Since beginning her work as a pediatrician over 30 years ago, she has worked extensively with multiple community agencies in order to prevent and treat abused children. Her current role as Medical Director includes clinical evaluations, community education and awareness and general medical management. The clinic serves five counties, providing urgent and non-emergent interviews and examinations for any child who may have been physically or sexually abused.
